Book Week & World Book Day
Book Fair
The Book Fair also arrives in school on Friday and the children will have an opportunity to see what is available.
It will be open for buying books the following week, Monday 9th, Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th March,
in the hall after school from 3.15 – 3.45pm.
Next week (Monday 2nd - Friday 6th March) we have a focus on books and reading in school to tie in with World Book Day. You will already be aware that it is World Book Day on Thursday 5th March. This year the theme is ‘Share a Million Stories’ continuing on from last year, which is such an invaluable and enjoyable thing to do. I have put some information regarding how you can celebrate this idea on the reverse of this letter.
We will be doing some fun things in school relating to books.
Monday 2nd – Harry Potter Night for Years 5 and 6
Tuesday 3rd – Key Stage 2 children have The M&M Theatre Company in doing a production of ‘The Railway Children’ and Key Stage 1 children have a visiting author, Steve Webb.
Thursday 5th March - Key Stage 2 have a visiting author, Kate Pankhurst
Friday 6th March – Dress Up day for World Book Day to round off the week. There is no need to
buy a costume, it is just a fun and memorable way to celebrate the joy of books. Some of the best costumes we have seen in recent years have been creative designs which the parents and children have put together; you can get lots of ideas from the internet as well. However, if your child does not want to dress up as a character, they should just come dressed in school uniform as usual.
Below are some great costume ideas from last year!
