Welcome to Year 2
Our Year in Action
Spring 1
This Spring 1 half term has been wonderfully busy and creative across all subjects. In R.E., we explored Jesus’ miracles and parables centered on forgiveness. We demonstrated reverence by leading their own Celebrations of the Word. Our English and Science lessons sparked curiosity through diary writing based on Dougal’s Deep Sea Diary and hands-on experiments with material properties. In Maths, we mastered the 2 tables using arrays and division strategies such as grouping and sharing, while our Computing work on spreadsheets and sea creature presentations enhanced our digital literacy. Finally, in P.E., we stayed active by mastering leaps and expressive shapes in our ‘Jump, Shape, Create’ unit, making for a fantastic half term of growth and discovery.
Spring 2
WBD
We had fun dressing up as our favourite book characters and got the chance to read with some year 5 children and share books, as well as an exciting author visit from Suzy Senior!
Maths
In Maths this term, we learnt all about Money!
English
In English, we became Rainforest Explorers!
Summer 1
In Maths, we began finding the fraction of an amount.
The Tudors
Mia and Jonas roleplayed Henry VIII and Queen Catherine. The class asked them questions about their lives.
The children tasted different kinds of foods the Tudors would have eaten. The children sketched out pictures of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn then they outlined the drawing using black felt tip pen.
The children looked at features of a newspaper to identify what they would need to include in their own.
Computing
We have been using the chromebooks to look at coding and algorithms.
R.E
We have been looking at all the events that happened since The Resurrection of Jesus, such as the Ascension and Pentecost.
