W/C 24th September 2017 Issue 2
Bishop Marcus and Pope Francis have requested that all children join together for the Mission Together ‘children helping children’ appeal.
Each child will be bringing home a small collection box and a prayer card. The collection box can be kept at home for any spare change you have until it needs to be returned to school during the week before we close for the holidays on 26th October. You will receive a leaflet telling you all about how your money can help children not as fortunate as us and who do not have access to education which is taken for granted in many countries. We know we can rely on you to help us with this appeal. In everything we do you are always so generous with giving all you can. Just as important as the money you donate is remembering these children in your prayers. There is a short prayer on the card your child has been given. Please say this prayer daily with your children.
MacMillan Coffee Afternoon.
Please see the reverse of this newsletter telling you about our MacMillan coffee afternoon on Tuesday 2nd October. If you are able to bake some buns or cakes for us to sell on the day we would be very grateful. Please send them in to school on either Monday 1st October or the morning of Tuesday 2nd.
The coffee afternoon will be taking place in the school hall from 2pm. Once again, thank you for your support. We look forward to seeing you all there to share a coffee and cake before collecting your children at home time.
The Book Fair.
Please remember the Book Fair in school this week. Books will be on sale in the hall Monday until Thursday 3.15 – 3.45pm. In these times of modern technology with iPads, games consoles and computers children seem to be losing the desire to sit and quietly read a book. Please try to encourage them to sit quietly and read for at least 20 minutes each day. Better still, sit and read with them.
