W/C 3rd December 2018                                                        Issue 9

Thank you to everyone who attended the Mass to celebrate the First Sunday of Advent at Church. The advent wreaths that the children had made in school were taken to Church and some children processed down the aisle carrying the wreaths which were blessed by Fr. Michael before being brought back to school for the classrooms.

We have started sending the travelling cribs home with the pupils this week. When your child brings the crib home please spend a few minutes with them talking about the crib and saying the prayer that we send with it. Also please remember to send the crib back the next day so another child can take it home. We only have 3 weeks to make sure all the children have a chance to take the crib home.

We have been informed that 3 of our pupils have qualified for the Cross Country Leeds City finals which take place in February 2019.

The pupils are Mosunmola from year 3 and Obi and Aiden in year 4. Well done to everyone who took part.

We are having a Christmas Raffle in school for 2 hampers. One is a hamper especially for children with chocolate and sweet treats in and the other is a family treat hamper with wine, cake and lots of other Christmas goodies. The cost of this is 25p per number. You can buy as many numbers as you wish and all the profits are going to school funds. The raffle will be drawn on Monday 17th December so you will only have one week to get your numbers.

On Friday 21st December we are inviting parents to join us for Carols round the Christmas Tree. Parents of children in FS2 – year 2 are invited to join us at 9am and then to stay for coffee and mince pies afterwards. Year 3 – year 6 parents are asked to join us at 2pm and again to stay for coffee and mince pies before taking your children home. This will be a lovely way to start the Christmas holidays.

The Butterflies Nurture Group are entering a competition called ‘Design your own Dream House’ which is being run by Manning Stainton Estate Agents. When the company heard why the group wanted to win the cash prize for school they made a wonderful gesture and have sent a cheque for £50.00 to help the children brighten up the room they use.

A very big thank you and we look forward to entering this and many more competitions.

REMINDER. If your child was born between 1 Sept 2014 and 31 Aug 2015 you should have applied for a school place. Please get a form from the office before Christmas.
